The Complete Tulsa Moving Checklist: 8 Weeks Out to Move Day
A week-by-week plan for a stress-reduced Tulsa move. Print it, tape it to the fridge, cross things off.
8 weeks out
- Decide your move date. Weekends and month-end are the busiest in Tulsa; a mid-week or mid-month move is cheaper for movers and easier on parking.
- Get 2–3 quotes if you are hiring movers. Ask if they are licensed in Oklahoma.
- Take inventory of large furniture. What actually fits in the new place?
6 weeks out
- Start using up pantry food and cleaning supplies you do not want to move.
- Sort donation piles for Goodwill Tulsa or the Salvation Army.
- If you rent, give written notice per your lease.
4 weeks out
- Reserve your totes. Book with Tulsa Tote Rental for delivery 1–2 days before packing starts.
- Change of address: USPS (moversguide.usps.com), bank, employer, insurance, subscriptions.
- Schedule utility transfers: PSO for electric, ONG for gas, Cox / AT&T for internet.
2 weeks out
- Confirm movers and tote delivery time.
- Pack anything you will not touch in the next two weeks: off-season clothes, books, decor.
- Fill out a change of address with your voter registration.
1 week out
- Totes arrive. Start packing room by room, labeling the destination room on each lid.
- Pack an "open first" tote: chargers, meds, toilet paper, coffee setup, one pan, a knife, sheets, towels.
- Confirm parking / elevator reservation at the new place if it is an apartment building.
Move day
- Strip beds first; put linens directly into totes.
- Load "open first" totes last so they come off the truck first.
- Do a final walkthrough: closets, under sinks, patio, mailbox.
First week in the new place
- Unpack the kitchen, one bedroom, and one bathroom. Everything else can wait.
- Stack empty totes by the front door.
- Text us for pickup: 918-960-0442. We come get them within your rental window at no extra cost.
